"Go back to the beach!"

This week Adam and I had the opportunity to get away for a couple of days without the kids, a huge THANK YOU to Grandma and Grandpa Bemis!!

When we were driving back I called and talked to Kaelynn and let her know that we were on our way back to Grandma's house and we would see her in a little bit. From there the conversation went like this:

Kaelynn: "NO! Go back to the beach!"
Me: "Go back to the beach?"
Kaelynn: "Yeah, back to the beach!"
(At this point I'm trying very hard not to laugh!)
Me: "Well, didn't you miss me?"
Kaelynn: "No."
Me: "Didn't you miss Daddy?"
Kaelynn: "No."
Me: "Do you think Alicia missed us?"
Kaelynn: "No, so you can go back to the beach."

I was laughing so hard it was hilarious!! I was a bit worried that we'd have to deal with a tantrum when in fact we came and tore her away from Grandma and Grandpa's house and brought back to the boring reality of our regular life.

However, when we actually did get there she was very excited to see us and wouldn't hardly let me put her down, she was hugging real tight -- it was cute!

Alicia on the other hand was another funny story. I walked in and she saw me and said, "Mama" and I knelt down with my arms stretched out for her and then she saw her Dad and said, "Dada" and walked all the way around my outstretched arms for her Dad!! It was pretty funny -- Adam was of course eating it up! She is truly a Daddy's girl!!

What do I do with this?

Here is an interesting picture to share with you all:

That's right -- it's a boy! I think most people know by now that we are expecting a baby in September and a couple of weeks ago we were told it's a boy. I have to admit I am still in shock and a bit of denial. Personally, I can't tell anything on that ultrasound picture but the technician was very convinced.

So, now I ask... what do I do with this? I know NOTHING about boys. I was so sure it was a girl and truthfully thought it would probably be easier that way... I've done girls, I know girls, not to mention I have all the girl clothes a family could ever need. And now the tables have been turned and I (who likes to be "in control") have been set on a new course. How crazy! The best part though was seeing Adam's face, he had a grin from ear to ear -- he's very excited. The next huge hurdle is naming the little guy, that's going to be an interesting journey!

Since that picture is less then clear here's another that I love.

Just can't believe how amazing it is to actually see the baby and how developed they are at such an early stage. Truly humbling to be a part of this incredible miracle of life.

Backyard Transformation

We have had a big project going on in our back yard for the last month or so and it's about time I post some pictures. It started because we have such a slope that when we moved in there was a large enough gap between the bottom of the fence and the yard that we could easily loose thing under the fence and then out to the busy & FAST street behind our house. What might we lose, you ask?? Well, one of the first things was a ball and then almost a small child who tried to follow after the ball. So... it's been a top priority that got put on the back burner but now has finally been done!!

Here's the main wall that started the project in the first place (if you look you can see the gap I was referring to).

It was a pretty major project and they used all kinds of equipment and sloshed around in the mud for so long, everyday the kids would love to watch them and I was just saying my prayers about how grateful I was we decided to hire it done. A VERY wise decision on our part!

And now for the finished product!!

We ended up with more than double the grass space for the kids and all in all a very functional back yard for us! YIPPEE!!


We even topped it all off with a couple garden beds and a shed to hide all the lawn and garden tools.

With the heat this last few days we took advantage and actually got our garden planted which Kaelynn thought was a lot of fun. Now the hard part though, she's been asking everyday when the peas will be ready! ;-)
