Easter Day ... a bit late!

Well, just to preserve that we actually did do something for Easter, here are a couple pictures.

In the morning we all came down as a family and Kaelynn wanted French toast for breakfast. So, I started cooking (and she is always my helper)... we were about done and she (nor Alicia) had noticed their Easter baskets sitting at their spots at the table, which is right next to the kitchen. Well, I saw this as a great opportunity to get some breakfast down them before the onslaught of candy so I sneakily hid them elsewhere while we ate. Then, we had to convince her that she should look for something that might have been left the night before and she finally decided to give it a try and both girls were very excited once they'd found their baskets.

This next picture is of the girls in their Easter dresses. While these weren't intentionally their Easter dresses, it worked really well. You see my Mother (an amazing seamstress)made a deal with her kids that if we bought materials she would sew whatever we wanted her to. Well, I'm no dummy... I have taken her up on it. She helped me pick everything out and she finished the dresses and I got them at Christmas time. They are a bit springy and cool so I was waiting for warmer weather and decided Easter would be a great day for the first time to wear them. You can't totally tell in this picture but the red on the print is cherries and they are just adorable!

Easter time ... a bit late!

Well, it's really late but here's our update on Easter...


The week before the girls and I headed to my Mom and Dad's while Adam was away on a business trip. It's always fun to go, but a very long drive by myself with two kids is a bit like torture. We did survive and even made it safely but let's just say I'm not ready to tackle that again for a LONG time.


An added bonus for the trip was that my brother and his family were there also so there were cousins to play with! We did easter egg coloring with the kids and it was a lot of fun -- thanks to that Aunt Marcella, she can make anything fun! ;-)

You can see how intent Kaelynn was in actually eating her Easter egg. Her bowl (and mouth) are full of Cocoa Puffs! Kaelynn and her cousin Hannah had so much fun together and it was great to watch. I hope they are always close friends.

One morning Kaelynn had to teach Garrett and Hannah how to get ready for basketball. We all got a pretty good laugh out of that one!

It was such a fun trip and we can't wait to see Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Brian and Aunt Marcella (and their kids) again. Hopefully it won't be too long. It is such a joy to see my kids loving their family. Kaelynn had a really hard time leaving this time and while it made me sad for her, I was happy that she likes to be around her family!

What is this?

The last couple of days we experienced something we haven't had for a ver long time....
.... SUN!!

So, the girls and I spent Friday morning at the park and they had such a great time.

Alicia was so funny to watch because she was a true dare-devil. The girl has virtually no fear. (Such a difference from her big sister). She mastered the tallest slide after only a couple of minutes and must have decided she needed more adventure so she proceeded to walk down the slide. Needless to say it didn't work and she fell on her bum and slid the rest of the way down with a huge smile on her face the whole way. The camera was a forgotten thing at that point because my heart nearly stopped!!

Kaelynn didn't want to be outdone by her little sister though and so she decided she could do a lot more this time at the park than she ever has before and she was very proud of herself when she climbed this...

Saturday was an amazing day with such beautiful weather that we loaded up for a morning at the zoo complete with a picnic. For Alicia, the highlight was the ducks. She loves to point out any duck picture anywhere and say, "Quack! Quack!" It's pretty cute and she did NOT want to leave those ducks!!

Later in the day we found some goats and brave little Alicia walked right in and started right on petting. Kaelynn was not too sure but again could not be outdone. After a few minutes she was had caught on and was enjoying herself and then also didn't want to leave.

It's fun to see the girls having fun together and learning from each other. It is so interesting to see how much they watch each other and will try and do whatever the other is doing. It's mostly good but then there are those times I'd rather they weren't taking such careful notes! :-)

Hopefully we'll have some more sun sometime soon but unfortunately the forecast is now rain till who knows when.... July?
