I spent many years working in the corporate world prior to having children and being a full-time Mom and most days I don't miss that world too much. However, lately I have been wishing and dreaming for a part of it back. What part??
A SICK DAY!!
The kind where I wake up sick, pick up the phone and call to say I'm sick and won't be in today then roll back over and go to sleep. The kind where I don't have other obligations that prevent me from taking a day off and recuperating. The kind where I go back to work in a day or two and have extra stuff to catch up on but it's manageable and others have pitched in to pick up the slack where possible. Ohh, if only I could have a sick day!!
This month has been complete nonsense around our house with sickness. My little S man has been sick for over a month and we've been to the doctor countless times with him. My big girl K has been sick as well and we are off to the urgent care this morning with her. The sickness hit me on Monday, which was GREAT timing because I had to make it through the entire week being super sick and taking care of the kids (inject serious sarcasm)!! My dear husband came down with it on Friday so let me just say this house is a nightmare. I have had some dear friends bring us some meals -- which was greatly appreciated. One friend even took the girls to story time (before they were too sick) so that was helpful as well.
I'm wondering though, how is a Mom to get better if there is no down time? Sure, Mom's have survived for centuries without real "sick days" but right now I am seriously wondering how?!

AMY I hope you get better and can sincerly FEEL your pain! You however seem to ahve such a good attitutde about things even though they may really stink! You ahve a way of putting HUMOR into things. WE love you!
That must be so hard! I have wondered that same question myself many times. I hope you all are feeling better soon!
I was sad to hear of your illness at your house when I met up with Emmalee on Thursday. I hope you are muddling through. Please, if I can help in any way, do not hesitate to call.
I have wanted a sick day a time or two myself. Like when I had bronchitis, or near pneumonia. It just stinks. I also think Mom's need a rest day. Especially after your little one has Croup and you've been up for 4 nights in a row. Thank heaven we got over that hurdle, but still, a rest day or a sick day would be really nice.
Maybe we need a girls morning out when you're better. We could go get pedicures or get breakfast.
Hang in there, it's been a tough one this year!
I remember when I was having throat problems one after another and feeling very similar to how you are right now. I thought to myself, will I ever get through this when I can't even rest because I'm taking care of three young children? I hope you feel better soon and I'm really glad that you have friends around you that are able to help. Hang in there. I love you!
I hope you get better soon--it's miserable to be a sick mom. I remember when our mom would say that she would rather be sick than the kids and I say NO WAY! That doesn't make any sense! I would rather the kids be sick so I'm well enough to take care of them and not lose my house. I do have to say, though, that sick times get much easier as the kids get older. Every year will get better as the kids grow and can help! Hope you feel better soon!!
